Bulletin – Brother Christopher Hiscock

Brothers and Sisters:
It is with profound regret and the greatest sadness to inform all of you of the passing of our President, Friend and Brother, Christopher Hiscock
Bro. Hiscock passed away on January 19, 2025. Chris was the heart of our Executive Board. He mentored, educated, befriended and advocated for each of us. He was extremely proud of our Local and what we stand for.
Chris also sat on the District 140 Executive Board and Chaired the Air Canada Pension for many years. We ask for patience, as we work our way through this.
This is an unspeakable loss for his wife and family. Our Local will do everything we can going forward to support them. At this time though, we ask that you respect their privacy.
More information will be passed along for a celebration of life, once we know details.

MTU – LOCAL LODGE 764 NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Further to our communication of January 14, 2025, the parties met on Saturday, January 18, 2025, with the Mediator. The day was spent reviewing non-monetary language proposals, resulting in four (4) Articles and several Letters being finalized for sign-off between the parties. The Union’s outstanding non-monetary proposals have been deferred to the parties’ monetary discussions.
We are scheduled to resume direct bargaining with the assistance of the Mediator on Saturday, January 25, 2025, when we expect to exchange monetary agendas. However, we are awaiting confirmation from the employer of their agreement to the simultaneous exchange of monetary agendas. Read Bulletin here…

MTU MAINTENANCE – LOCAL LODGE 764 NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Further to our communication of December 18, 2024, the parties met independent of the Mediator on January 9 & 10, 2025 with minimal progress. The Mediator met with the parties on January 13, 2025, and were unable to reach agreement on any further non-monetary proposals. All of the Union’s outstanding non-monetary proposals have now be deferred to the parties’ monetary discussions.
We are scheduled to resume direct bargaining with the assistance of the Mediator on Saturday, January 18, 2025 and Saturday, January 25, 2025, when we expect to commence the exchange of monetary proposals. Read Bulletin here…

UNION DUES AND PER CAPITA TAX

The amount of Union Dues paid by each individual in the Machinist Union is determined by the Membership at a democratic forum. At the International (Grand Lodge) level, the per capita tax is established by the Delegates to the Grand Lodge Convention every four years. For 202, the Grand Lodge per capita tax will be $43.49 per member per month. This is a monthly increase of $0.82 from 2024. Read Bulletin here…

Further to our communication of November 22, 2024, the parties resumed direct negotiations on December 2, 2024. We were joined by our Mediator, Fazal Bhimji on December 3, 2024, and made some limited progress with the assistance of the Mediator on the remaining non-monetary issues.
The parties agreed to reconvene the morning of December 5, 2024, with Mediator Bhimji to continue discussions on the remaining non-monetary issues, however, no further progress was made.  Read Bulletin here…
