IAM Adopts Alternate Processes Leading Up to Grand Lodge Convention

In view of the coronavirus pandemic and its disruption to local lodge meetings, IAM International President Robert Martinez Jr. has granted special dispensation to all local lodges to utilize alternate procedures concerning three critical, time-sensitive processes related to the upcoming 40th Grand Lodge Convention in San Diego. District Bulletin 21 – AIR CANADA MEMBERS (TMOS, FINANCE & CLERICAL) CANADA EMERGENCY WAGE SUBSIDY (CEWS)

The IAMAW along with the other Air Canada Unions entered into a Canadian Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) arrangement with Air Canada.

This new arrangement brings members on Off-Duty Status (ODS), or who were laid off after March 15, 2020, back onto the Air Canada payroll. Members will have the option of receiving a wage through the CEWS program, or applying for the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), if they are better served financially through CERB. Members cannot receive both a wage through the CEWS and CERB benefits, but can select one of the options depending on which program offers a better financial benefit. Read Bulletin here…

LOCAL LODGE 764 AIR CANADA SHOP COMMITTEE OFFICES

As a result of Air Canada’s invocation of Article 20.14 – Off-Duty Status, Brothers Tim Murphey,
Shawn Archer and Perry Sidhu have all been placed on Off-duty status in accordance with their
seniority. At this point in time, the expected date of their return to active duty status has not been

The General Chairpersons and the IAMAW Canadian office have been working tirelessly in an effort to secure the information needed to answer many important questions coming from our membership regarding the application of Article 20.14 “Off-Duty Status” (ODS). Members from Air Canada YUL TMOS group have been contacting the Union at all levels to discuss their concerns with protection against COVID-19 in the workplace now that some of our colleagues have confirmed cases of COVID-19.
