AIR CANADA – TMOS NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE – APRIL 1, 2019
Your 2019 – 2022 TMOS Negotiating Committees continued direct bargaining with Air Canada from March 25th – March 29th in Vancouver. Discussions transpired regarding Common, Tech-Ops, Airports/Cargo and Pension issues. The Committee will be meeting with Air Canada again the week of April 8th to build on the progress made so far. As you know, Air Canada has been attempting to terminate the employment of those Members who have been in receipt of long-term disability benefits for more than two (2) years. In July of 2016, when Air Canada began issuing termination letters, the Union filed grievances and was successful in preventing Air Canada from going ahead with the terminations at that time. District Bulletin 51 – AC (ACM) END PREM AWARD – MONTHLY PREMIUMS
The grievances were based on the fact when a Member is absent from work sick, etc. the Employer was converting monthly premiums to an hourly rate and subsequently deducting that amount from a Members pay.
