District Bulletin 48 – AIR CANADA TMOS RETIRE “REHIRE”

Air Canada approached the Committee of General Chairpersons and sought the Union’s agreement to rehire recent retirees for term (temporary) employment for a period not to exceed 6 months.
After a cautious evaluation, your Union identified a myriad of concerns with the Company’s proposal that were simply not acceptable. Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 40 – AIR CANADA TMOS PENSION CAP RETROACTIVITY

Arbitrator Vince Ready has ruled in favour of the Union and ordered the pension cap increase retroactive to the effective date of the Collective Agreement, April 1, 2019.

Details regarding the process and timelines for members who wish to make retroactive contributions on their eligible pensionable earnings will be communicated as they become available. Those Members who previously elected to retire under the Early Retirement Incentive Program (ERIP) are eligible for buyback, if they so choose. Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 38 – AIR CANADA ODS AND PENSION BUYBACK

Those of you affected by periods of ODS in 2021 should be aware that you have the opportunity to buy back that unaccumulated pensionable service. To apply for the buyback, you are required to contact HR Connex within 90 days after returning to work from ODS. This was previously communicated in a Company

District Bulletin 34 – AIR CANADA ONE CATEGORY GRIEVANCES

As a follow-up to bulletin No. 005 issued on January 27th of this year, the arbitration process has now concluded for the grievances regarding one-category recall. This arbitration hearing was raised to a full evidentiary process and the parties required three (3) full days to make all arguments. Unfortunately, Arbitrator Schmidt ruled in favour of the Company and dismissed the Union’s grievances. Read Bulletin here…

District Bulletin 32 – AIR CANADA TMOS OFF DUTY STATUS GRIEVANCE

On May 12th, your Committee of General Chairpersons went to bat again to defend our collectively bargained rights. The Company’s utter contempt for the Collective Agreement and disdain for its employees was again painfully manifest with the invocation of a second wave of Off-Duty Status (ODS) commencing in January of this year, almost eight (8) months after the initial period of ODS transitioned to the lay-off, bumping and recall provisions of Article 16.
