BCFED- On-the-job deaths of two Okanagan workers

The BC Federation of Labour is renewing its call for the BC government to make workplaces safer after
two more workers were killed in fatal incidents at Okanagan timber facilities in the past five days.

Please ensure that you and your members continue to practice the strictest adherence to safety and SOPs. You do not want your family to be the one that has to answer the door when the RCMP arrive to tell them that you will not be coming home from work. Read PDF here…

IAM764 Women’s Committee marched in Vancouver

Members of the IAM764 Women’s Committee marched in Vancouver on Saturday in solidarity with women in Washington, DC and around the world. The Women’s March was a peaceful protest in response to the inauguration of Donald Trump. The larger than expected crowds in many cities sent a powerful signal that the hate, sexism and bigotry that characterized his campaign are not acceptable and will not be tolerated.

Rod Siegler

SIEGLER, Rod Rod passed away peacefully in his home on January 08, 2017 at the young age of 51. He’s survived by good friends, family, and two beloved kitty cats. We’ll miss his sense of humor, sharp wit, pranks and practical jokes! Rod was an active member in the community who believed in supporting local business, respecting his neighbors, and was a passionate volunteer at the Richmond Animal Protection Society, Cat Sanctuary (RAPS). In lieu of flowers etc, we encourage donations to RAPS in memory of Rod Siegler – the kitties will be missing their freshly grown catnip and masses of treats & attention. Please join us in a celebration of life taking place at ANAF 284 in Steveston, Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2PM.
