- Letter to Prime Minister Carney and Minister Hajdu
On behalf of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM Union), the largest union representing workers at Air Canada, I am writing to strongly urge the Government of Canada to refrain from any interference in the collective bargaining process currently underway between the Air Canada Component of CUPE, Air Canada, and Air Canada Rouge.
Our members are watching closely, as are we. They expect a fair negotiation process – free from political interference and legislative intervention. Read Letter here…
- Bulletin 21 – AIR CANADA CUPE STRIKE UPDATE AUGUST 13, 2025
Earlier today, CUPE, the union representing Air Canada’s Flight Attendants, issued a strike notice. Air Canada subsequently responded by issuing a lockout notice moments later. While this is an important step in their fight for a fair deal, it is business as usual for our members at this time.
The Company has confirmed to us there are no current plans to place our members off duty. However, it is important to note that this situation can change rapidly. Should their position on this change, they have committed to informing us immediately. We will be in contact with Air Canada management and will update you without delay. Read Bulletin here…

- David Chartrand IAM Canadian General Vice-President – upcoming certification vote
As you know, there will be an upcoming certification vote for you to decide whether you will remain an IAM Union member. This vote will take place online so you can vote without fear of reprisal and your vote will remain confidential. I am asking you to consider this: What is AMFA going to do for you?
• Does AMFA have the infrastructure to fight an evil, well-oiled machine in Air Canada?
• Does AMFA have a Pension Plan?
• Am I going to be a second-class citizen at AMFA?
• Am I leaving money on the table?
• Will AMFA protect my job when they have a history of outsourcing?
