The National Day of Mourning honours the memory of workers who have been killed, injured, or suffered illness caused by their work. This is one of the most sacred days on our calendar.
Sadly, in 2023, 201 claims of workers who died were reported to the WCB by end of February 2024, the fourth highest number in the past ten years. Only 175 of these reported claims were accepted by the WCB.

LOCATION: LL764 MAIN HALL – 7980 RIVER ROAD RICHMOND, B.C.Pension seminars are scheduled for all interested IAM & AW Members employed by Air Canada. The seminars will deal with the legacy Air Canada Defined Benefit and MEPP Pension plans for both ex-CAIL and original Air Canada members.
During the seminars we will explain the rules of the pension plans, the available pension options for retirement and termination as well as Air Canada’s post-retirement extended

Further to our communication of February 15, 2024. Your Bargaining Committee attended a negotiations preparation program at our training centre in Baltimore the week of March 2 – 8, 2024 to continue our preparations for the upcoming round of Collective Bargaining.
We want to thank the Membership for their strong participation in the bargaining survey. You indicated that your preferred method of communication from the Bargaining Committee is by email. Accordingly, your Committee will be in the workplace collecting your personal (non-work related) emails in order to ensure we are communicating with you in a timely manner throughout the bargaining process. - DISTRICT 140 BYLAWS ARTICLE VII – GOVERNMENT OF THE DISTRICT BYLAWS
SUBJECT – New proposals and amendments to the Bylaws.
OBJECTIVE – To accelerate the submission of proposals or amendments to existing District 140 Bylaws.
GENERAL INFORMATION – The Bylaws Committee will be appointed by the President & Directing General Chairman. Selection will be made from among the delegates attending the District 140 Convention. This Committee will meet several days before the convention to review new proposals and amendments that may be submitted to the convention. Local Lodge 764 would like to establish a Membership Engagement Committee (MEC) to begin the process of outreach to all of our members. The MEC will be comprised of volunteer members of LL764 who will simply be asked to meet and talk with their coworkers in their own work locations to find out what our members know about Local Lodge 764 and the IAMAW, their collective agreement rights and their Union rights.
This bulletin serves as the official call for any members who are interested in taking part in this membership engagement process and who are interested in volunteering to become a member of the MEC. We wanted to bring your attention to the Company’s recent demands for supporting documentation when submitting requests for FR days (Personal Leave, as per the Canada Labour Code). The Company has been making demands for specific documentation to support our members requests for an FR day. Some of these requests go as far as asking for “time stamped messages” from caregivers. These demands are not in line with the Canada Labour Code and are causing undue hardship on our membership. It is our members right to decide what documents they are able to provide, if any.
